Texan friends (and those nearby), it appears that the week of April 7th-13th will include some excellent scholarship coming to the area. I mentioned the conference with Darrell Bock, Craig Evans, Gary Habermas, and Daniel Wallace (see my post on the Christian Renaissance Apologia Conference). Well, it appears Larry Hurtado will be in the state at the same time. He is lecturing at Rice University and Houston Baptist University April 10th-12th. Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend his lectures in Houston (though I will be in Dallas on Saturday the 13th to hear Bock, Evans, and Habermas), but if you can make it I encourage it. For more info, read this post: Hurtado Lectures in Houston (April).

Speaking of Huston, this baseball season I’m going to be following the Astros, simple because of their league change to the Ameican league makes them seem huge underdogs.

Andrew
The Astros will be terrible this year, and maybe next year, since this is a rebuilding era for them.
Dr. Bock
Thanks for the heads up!

Brian, I have no doubt you’re correct, but my loyalty will not be conditional. I’ve decided to follow them this year, whatever their record; I like to think loyalty such as this does not come cheap.
