The Dead Sea Scrolls are coming to Google!

Google is going to digitize the Dead Sea Scrolls so all us common people can stare at the documents trying to decipher them for ourselves!

  1. BIOLA has an exact replica of the book of Isaiah from the Dead Sea Scrolls, if I’m not mistaken. They have it in the Chapel, I saw it when I attended the Fred Sanders seminar.

  2. But now you can just find it online! BIOLA wasted there money. :)

  3. Are you going off topic by talking about wasting money ;)

  4. I didn’t do a very good job, huh? Let me see if I can quote a theologian no one else reads using terminology no one else understands….

  6. Yeah, that would be good. We should do a post like that one day, make it like 1000 words with incoherent paragraphs, and just go on, and on, and on. April Fools would be a good day. I dare you!

  7. That could be a really good idea! Like Anselm says….

  8. I was talking to my son about this chat we have been having and he reminded me about the movie “Billy Madison”. Remember when he was giving his long speech in class and everyone was into it? Then the principle comments:

Principal: Mr. Madison, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Billy Madison: Okay, a simple “wrong” would’ve done just fine.

  9. Here is the video:

Ok, I have officially gone way off track on this post, where is the moderator!

  10. The king of incoherent theological babbling was this guy. It’s a shame he doesn’t blog or comment on people’s blogs anymore.

  11. Robert: That is exactly how I want to respond sometimes! I think if someone starts rambling on our blog all I will say in response is “I award you no points”!

Nick: I couldn’t find a destination for that link.

  12. That’s weird. Somehow my WordPress address got attached to it. Here’s the proper URL: http://pseudotheologia.blogspot.com/

  13. That’s even weirder. Now it’s your WP address attached to the initial link. The first time I clicked it it led to my blog. Now it leads to a page that cannot be found on yours!

  14. Google has also digitized many OT and NT commentaries (good ones!!).

  15. Scott: Yeah, but they’re limited previews, not entire books.

  16. Nick -

Thanks for deflating my bubble. I re-read the other guys articles that I linked to and realise that now. Well, I can only suppose that one day it might all be available. No?

  17. Scott: Maybe in 100 years when they’re out of copyright. ;-)
